Surface Pro 5 gets new (August 18, 2022) firmware updates

Microsoft has started rolling out new firmware updates for Surface Pro 5. The new update is available for Surface Pro (5th Gen) devices running Windows 10 May 2020 Update, version 20H1, or later.

The new firmware update will resolves potential security vulnerabilities, including Microsoft Security Advisory ADV220002. The update is listed as a “August 18 release” on the Surface Pro 5 Update History page.

Getting the Updates via Windows Update

You can get this new Firmware Update via Windows Updates, as we detailed here:

• On Windows 11, go to Start > Settings (Win + I) > Windows Update and click the "Check for updates" button.
• On Windows 10, go to Start > Settings > Update & security and click the "Check for updates" button.

If your Surface Pro 5 didn't receive the update, it should appear on the Windows Update list by now.
